Once your fire burned bright within my heart
I was overwhelmed by its intensity
It seemed it would burn forever, a star
Lighting the way through dark and stormy hours
Love at first sight, opposites attract
Though both not strong enough to share our souls
We worked and we loved through thick and through thin
Once your fire burned bright within my heart.
We both had our problems, personal pains
Nights on the phone, we could say anything
And we were always there for each other
Lighting the way through dark and stormy hours
Everything was perfect, but suddenly
Dark clouds rolled in and it threatened to rain
My flames fought to burn but all was in vain
Once your fire burned bright in my heart.
A sudden flash and it all was over
You went your way, seeking help for yourself
Left me there alone, hoping I could be
Lighting the way the way through dark and stormy hours
But smoldering coals still lie in my soul
Waiting for the sweet breath of an angel
To give them life and ignite them again.
Once your fire burned bright within my heart,
Lighting the way through dark and stormy hours.

There is a light to follow and the words show the way. Was not your light this time around, just another day. Sweet words. Thank you for sharing. |
