Roads keep on closing
The light's fading away
Can't see where I'm going
Getting nowhere each day.
The stars sing a silent rhapsody
And it's to everyone but me
They all just look so happy
Happier than I could be.
Why can't I be that lucky?
Why can't all this crap change?
Things for them get worse and better
But for me they stay the same.
I shouldn't be afraid to cry at night
And scream frustration out at home.
I shouldn't be afraid to fight
Rather than sit and stay alone.
But things just don't get better
Even when given time
Depression's my babysitter
And I've been forced to mind.
So why not give up
And sit down in the road
Skip rocks on frozen water
Try to ignore the cold
The love flying around you
The love you can't reach
The love that they steal
Each the same petty thief.
Tune out the stars' rhapsody
Watch the good stuff pass by
Become lights in the distance
Hope it's better when you die.
Hating dusty old frames
Pictures that once contained
Old morphine for the pain
And others' loss at your gain.
So now you're alone
And there's no sure way home,
So the rhapsody sings
With the numbness it brings.

Rissa,
You have put a lot of feelings into this piece. I sense bitterness at the fact, that no matter what, life is going no wherefor you. I am with you on that. Life just seems to stand still, when everyone else has found their light and guide. If only the world were perfect...

There's five stars from Eve that'll be singing a rhapsody for you. I think that ever having a favourite of yours is bound to be impossible, whether it's poem or story.
Keep writing,
-Eve (Your very own Morbid Poet!) |
