After tireing of
feeding brim,
catching a few
Thought I'd try
my luck
with a lure.
Casting, reeling 'bout
three times
sudden excitement
was mine.
Right next to
the bank
Oh bout
four feet
The sound is
still sweet.
Slapping water
he got my
attention we both
had
good intentions.
You should have
seen jaws
on that fish.
Maybe next week
I'll have that bass
on my dish.
Taking a break
at Cane Creek Lake
Had a ball
even if I lost
the biggest one
of all.

This was just plain cute. I like the way you used the "twang" in the writing. Good hoice of lingo! It definitely made me chuckle...

Makes me want to grab my pole, although its cold, jump in my fliver and head for the river.
When I'm in that boat on the warrier river, all my worrys and concerns about anything are
completely forgotten until I return home.

PS Thanks for your kind words about the "Beloved Child".

Believe it or not, I caught an alligator once. Well, of course, I couldn't bring him in, it was like trying to reel in a concrete wall. But it was the most exciting catch of my life. He finally just slapped his tail and jerked that line and broke it and swam back out to the channel with my hook and line! More fun that eatin watermelon in the summer! Rita |
