Who would have thought
This is how we would be
This is what has become
Of what was once you and me
I pour out my heart
But you don't say a word
But every soft whisper
In your heart I know is heard
When I do hear your voice
Calling out to me
I turn to run to you
Then know it cannot be
I reach out to touch you
To hold you once again
But you don't reach back
Leaving an emptiness within
My hand sweeps across the ground
Where you now peacefully sleep
Longing for you to reach up
And rise from the grave, so deep
I gently kiss your name
Engraved upon the stone
And am left to cry at your graveside
Left to cry alone
I long to know so many answers
As to why you left me without saying good-bye
And what caused you to hurt so badly
That you felt you must die
I wish I could have been there for you
And often think of taking your same route
But then I think of all life's blessings
All the blessings you did without
I will face all of life's battles
Without you by my side
I can't help but think if I had fought them with you
Would it be you who would have died?
I'm sorry I wasn't there for you
But I will never leave you now
I will see you once again
But for now must go on... somehow

| this is really sad...and a beautiful beautiful write. i know i went thru a period of time where all i could do was think about committing suicide. i tried to...a few times. but in the end i got help and was able to move on. im sry ur friend is gone, but im happy u know theres so much to live for. like u said, u'll get to see ur friend someday...and im sure she/he is always listening up above and watching out for u, even if it feels like ur alone...nobody ever is alone. |

| Such a beautiful poem it really made me cry. I know how it feels i lost my best friend 2 years ago and still havent gotten over it. my bestfriend of my childhood killed himself on christmas, and his funeral was today and i thought of this poem cause i had sent it to him and told him that i hope he never has to miss like this, and now im the one left to miss him and to cry alone at his graveside but his tombstone is on the otherside of the world. this is such an excellent poem. he loved it too.

Demons haunt ur mind waiting for that perfect time to attack and the last thing you think about is the long term effect it will have on those who don't give up on the battle - this fight .Sometimes it seems as though no one will care- but I believ that is when we must look with in . I haven't lost anybody to suicide, but I do share your pain, and on some level, understand the emptiness that you feel inside. My mother passed away from cancer two weeks after she was diagnosed with it last fall, and it's still hard to really know that sh'es gone... and I think that that was such a beautiful poem.

aww...it's so sad..i'm so sorry you're going through this..my friend is going through the same thing and i just feel helpless. although sometimes i do wonder if life would be a heck of a lot easier if i took this route..but anywho..this was good my favorite part was :

i know how it feels to lose someone to suicide, and almost lost against it myself. this brought back many memories for me, and a few questions as well. you did a wonderful job on this write, i'm sure that your friend would be very proud of you for it, and for the strength that you work so hard to channel towards living without them. hang in there, it'll get better. Absolutely beautiful and very touching. I battle with Bi-Polar Disorder and have fought suicidal thoughts for a major portion of my life....This poem truly shows what loved ones have to go through and live with after the loss of a loved one to suicide.
Thank you so much for your very deep heart-wrenching feelings....It literally brought tears to my eyes!

| WOW! While I was reading this poem, my heart ached with sadness and guilt and tears were marching to the surface of my eyes. When I say giult, its because I had contemplated suicide before and every now and again. But this poem made me realize how big of an impact this can have on the people that loved rthe person who took their own lives. This is a very sad but very moving and powerful poem!!!! |
