In a Cage

Contributed by Hugh on Thursday, 5th February 2004 @ 01:56:18 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

I'm in a cage
A cell of sorts
I made this prison and put myself in it
My cage is my mask
That covers me
That hides me
So no one can se the person I am
I'm buried so deep
So deep down inside
That even I can’t see me
It’s been so long
Since that persons been seen
I don’t remember what she looks like
Or what she can be
This mask should come off
I should let her shine
But I'm too afraid
If I let her out for all to see
I’ll have nothing to protect me
To protect me from me
Everyone would see who I really am
They'd see all of me
Even my broken heart
They’d see what it really is
Nothing but pieces
Thrown here and there
Nothing but cuts and broken promises
Nothing but unloved and forgotten
I want to get out
To fly and be free
To sour like a bird
To be held down no more
But I can’t let myself out
Cant let people see
So for now I’ll just keep me
Locked in a cage so deep inside
That my light cant be seen
By anyone
Not even me

WOW! I felt as if i were reading my own words! I've built this wall around me preventing anyone to see the real ME! It something I love to do , but something that can ultimatley make someone go mad. Its difficult to remove the mask, i know i've tried and its painful. Its a task that i reakon i haven't yet completed! But with time and love from friends and family and the faith that God can help, we can make it thru!!!
