How Do You Live?

How Do You Live?
February 4, 2004

We are living our lives in the fairy tale,
Of pretty words in a pretty cover,
A pretty girl in a scary world,
And the ending is always happily ever after.

I am living my life in my dreams,
From nightmare to nightmare,
I pretend I don’t care, I’m not scared,
But the ending is never nice.

You are living your life in protection,
A perfect child in a perfect place,
Sheltered from anything bad,
But the ending is always sad.

They are living their lives in fears,
In suicide and hot tears,
With a big bad wolf in their story,
And the ending is always worry.

To be frozen in time with one emotion,
Which would you choose and why?
I can’t decide if I’d like to spend the rest of my life,
Sad, depressed, and crying,
Or scared, watching, and flinching?
Of the two I’d rather be crying,
Than waiting and expect to be dying.
What about happy with smiles everywhere,
Or false joy created by hiding what’s really there?
I’d not want pure happiness and bliss,
And know the rest our in pain,
So I’d choose to spend the rest of my life in vain,
Ignorant to emotion,
With only one devotion.

I forfeit the fairy tale and nightmares too,
I don’t want the fear or protection from you.
No worry, no tears, no fears for me.
I want to be oblivious to what I see.
