Once, long ago
And it’s been proven true
By a man I was told
“A good man won’t have you!”
If that’s true
That man wasn’t good
I left him blue
As fast as I could
The next came along
And after four long years
I finally saw he was wrong
And left him in fear
They both wanted me
And I ran far away
When I came to see
The errors of their way
I finally found
Or we found each other
A man that was sound
Whom I didn’t bother
We’d spend hours on end
In each other’s company
He became my best friend
And his trust grew in me
Beyond the shadow of a doubt
This man was incredible
He didn’t scream or shout
For once, life was peaceful
It seems the path was set
We were doomed from the start
For he can never forget
And must protect his heart
The good man I knew
Didn’t want me close
So from me he flew
The distance now grows
Recent events have proven
The first man to be right
Ironically, it’s due to my action
The right man took flight

There are other good men out there. Don't give up hope. Just don't make the same mistakes next time. |
