Summers With Bug

Contributed by LJ on Wednesday, 4th September 2002 @ 03:47:29 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

Remember the days we would spend
Down by the creek bend
Feet dangling in the water, cool and clear
Little girl laughter everyone could hear

Laying in the tree shade
Through tall grasses we would wade
Imaginations were not lacking
For hunting trails we were tracking

The Ditch became a mountain
The spicket a fountain
Houses made of grass
Oh the time we did pass

Picnics in the secret hide out
The one we thought no one knew about
Sandwiches of peanut butter and jelly
We avoided boys they were smelly

Teaching you to whistle was a hard task
My laughter I tried to mask
Teaching me to dive
At the task you did strive

The kittens would spit and hiss
As we played and dreamed of our first kiss
I a doctor, you a nurse
Bandages on the dogs we did rehearse

Adventures everywhere we tread
On our bicycles where we sped
Ball games in the back yard
Trying to beat the boys, we played so hard

Picking flowers for our mother
All the dandelions were for no other
Helping mom pick strawberries
Claiming they had been eaten by the ferries

We would clash and arguments were had
No more than five minuets could we stay mad
I’m your big sis and you my little bug
Oh, that calls for a hug!

Dinnertime came and in we went
Hours in the sun, we had spent
Tired and weary from all our play
With no one else would I have wanted to spend my day

This is my favorite of yours L J. I hope you and Bug still find time to go on the odd adventure every now and then. Thumb
