AN ---HOLE IN THE GARDEN OF EVIL

Contributed by Steeleyes on Tuesday, 3rd February 2004 @ 10:51:54 AM in AEST
Topic: political

Anyone need a fig leaf in the garden of evil?
Oh yes, so many need one of those today
Cheney and Bush and Powell too
They stand nakedly pretending to pray

Now no one knows which way to look
Averting their eyes from the crook
Send the crowd toward the CIA!
Maybe we can escape THAT way!

Eeek! The Emperor has no clothes!!!
Achh, the stink is so bad. Hold your nose!
Come on, who's going to fall on their sword
Is there someone left to believe their word?

We need a candidate to save our vote
Anyone will do, some old scapegoat
See us search vainly for a target that fits
To save our necks and shredded wits

Oh where, oh where, are those WMD?
Were they truly imaginary?
Perhaps we’ll find them out there on Mars!
Or if not there then the farthest stars!

How could this happen in election year?
We must find ANOTHER source of fear
More Ricin perhaps to every sub-office
And loads more lies from my ugly orifice

Well you know, all I can do is hope
It’s too late to pretend I’m not a dope
Perhaps I can claim to be possessed!?
A little Martian made me obsessed!?

Ah the Garden of Evil is a lonely place
When others desert you and fear your face
Already they see me as a dead duck
And when I ask for help say I can go cluck

So I stand here naked, a pathetic man
The author of a failed WMD plan
Exposed to all as a one pitiful soul
Bereft sad plotter and true ---hole

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
