There is wind in the hills
That sounds in the brush
And over the stones
It is a sad sound
The west wind’s lament
For the east wind
There is lament
In my own heart today
My joy is quenched
Like the sorrowful sun
Dim behind gray clouds
That cover heaven
For there is love in my heart
To me like a sun
Love for a girl
One I have not seen
For long days that drift
Like waves on a shore
She was beautiful
As sunlight on wave-spray
And the first star of twilight
With hair of deep gold
That fell like a river
On slender shoulders
Gold were the days
When I saw her
High was my heart
When she smiled at me
Such bright tenderness
I have never seen in another
But I do not know her heart
Nor aught of her life
Nor the sound of her name
And now the days are spent
The time is lost
When she was my hope
For I must soon depart
Never to come again
Will my heart be whole?
Or will it long lament
Like the cold west wind
Crying for the east wind?

Yah, good... But kinda sad that she don't know your name...
Well, take care. Look both ways before crossing the street.
Yup, me...

Tis a lovely sad write laddie - it is the nature of love itself to be ethereal and I ken the sadness in you over never having the chance to know her.

The love of a poet... only a poet could paint love to be so wonderful. Your poetry reminds me of those old films that focus more on nature and the surroundings then the general theme... which i LOVE, by the way. You're ability to decribe things is impecable.
PERFECTION even.

Wow, Andrew! You really did love her didn't you? That was so beautiful. And I'll agree with Emily in that a writer like you can have any girl fall into your arms. But, then again, I'm a sucker for poets....right? Those darn sweet talkers, the most dangerous ones I tell you! Well, beautiful, just the same. It's like I got a look into your soul.

Oh, Andrew... this is...
making me tear up
Has she seen this poem?
If not, she should. She'd melt!!!
Bravo and encore!!!

"The wind doth make a howling sound
that draws the cry of the wolf
and echoes in the valley a lonely sound
that stays the a man at his foot"
Very very good write. |
