A Message From my 'Friend' Bi-Polar

Contributed by bobotheclown on Monday, 2nd February 2004 @ 01:33:45 AM in AEST
Topic: psychoticpoems

My mind is bloodied and battered
I'm shaking on my bed cursing my weakness
Trying to ignore the unbearable pull
Of the sharpened metal's embrace,
But I've already been cut so deep
And I doubt anything hurt much more

Chorus:
I am not manic
I am not depressive
I just hover in the ******* MIDDLE!!!

My pen falls from my nerveless fingers
My eyes are wide, but unseeing
I pick up my razor (and consecrate it
as my new pen) With it I shall write
I shove it in my mouth with a bloodied, lusty gasp
And my tongue roves its contours passionately

Chorus:
I am not manic
I am not depressive
I just hover in the ******* MIDDLE!!!

I smile showing off my blood-stained teeth
And I extract the razor with deadened fingers
I lay it down and watch as it corrodes
From my saliva with a satisfying 'hiss'
I pick up a new pen (razor) and touch it
Gently, noticing its sharp bit

Chorus:
I am not manic
I am not depressive
I just hover in the ******* MIDDLE!!!

I strip from my shirt
And fill the tub with boiling water
As I begin to write upon my skin
Beginning to laugh (along with the voices in my head)
As ink dribbles form my arm, and splatters on the floor
Bending suggestively I lick it up with my flayed tongue

Chorus:
I am not manic
I am not depressive
I just hover in the ******* MIDDLE!!!

I sink into the tub sending forth
A gush of ink that turns the water
Crimson, I touch the water lovingly
And wait until the water turns frigid
The voices are whispering to me,
But I struggle to understand them

Chorus:
I am not manic
I am not depressive
I just hover in the ******* MIDDLE!!!

I'm scared now and cold... so cold
I see the words criss-crossed against my skin
And touch each one lovingly, like my own child
Their all so unique and beautiful,
But still I hurt as tears start to form
I lay on my bed alone and forgotten
Bi-polar's message still oozing its ink

This is a great write. I really like the metaphorical images of the pen and razor and ink. it is a perspective i never really thought of...

yeah, i read 'I'm Bleeding and I'm Laughing' by me again last night, and man it really made me want to slice myself up some more...

odd, the spoken word and its powers of suggestion...

also joel, i think that the title is very boring, if you want my honest opinion.

i like the last line including 'bipolar's message', but i think you might want ot consider giving the title a less documenting and/or didactic feel.

cheers,
C+

Extremely disturbing yet extremely good. This clung tightly to my satisfaction. The poem holds much craze and insanity yet the words form out marvelously. Keep it up.

Kisses,
~Soulless~
