Killed The Fight

Contributed by waos on Monday, 2nd February 2004 @ 01:26:04 AM in AEST
Topic: Suicide

The razor so innocent,
gently grasped, tenderly held tight.
It's killed something inside,
it's killed all your fight.
You remember all the times,
before a razor was your best friend.
You remember how you thought
you could keep going till the end.
But now that seems so distant,
you can't figure out the way to stay.
You've searched so hard for a reason,
but it's all just pushed you farther away.
It presses gently upon your skin,
it's like water on parched lips.
It's like one life in the midst of death,
as the razor caresses your wrist.
You no longer hear anything,
you no longer see.
You're finally able to breath,
able to just be.
Not realizing how deep it's gotten,
not realizing how much release.
but you're finally feeling
a measure of peace.
And if surviving is the best you can do,
who are they to say it's wrong?
Who are they to scream at you
for not being as strong?
Just surviving is a wonder,
for the razor killed all of your fight.
It dimmed your sense of hope,
and darkened your vision of night.

A simple razor can be your best friend and carry you far beyond the end. Keep writing those poems!
