One More Day

Contributed by Tanna on Wednesday, 4th September 2002 @ 06:08:09 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

If I knew the day were mine to chose

I'd have to take stock of all I'd lose

I'd watch a sunrise; sky pink, orange and blue

I'd see the world, through eyes anew

I'd lie in a field, listening to the grass sigh

I'd watch bees and butterflies dance lazily by

I'd take a long swim in a freshwater lake

I'd forgive myself of any past mistake

I'd watch a hawk dip and rise in flight

I'd absorb the noonday rays so bright

I'd inhale the fragrance of a honeysuckle vine

I'd savor a glass of sweet red wine

I'd try my best to right a wrong

I'd sit in the woods and listen to its peaceful song

I'd ride my horse with wild abandon, not a care in the world

I'd stare at the whirlpool in the creek, as it crazily swirled

I'd eat lobster until I couldn't eat another bite

I'd watch the sunset - pastels fading into night

I'd tell my best friends of the mark they've made on my soul

I'd thank them deeply for helping make me whole

I'd tell my sis to stay strong, fight a good fight

To battle her cancer with all her might

I'd thank my mother, for giving me my start

I'd tell her I love her, and admire her heart

I'd tell my sons how they're loved and cherished

On this day, before I perished.

This is a sweet, heartfelt poem... and there isn't anything here that I wouldn't do under the circumstances (except maybe eating lobster **yuk**) Great write! -jason
