You share compassion, a heart of gold
I return your warmth twenty fold
When sadness cuts, my heart you mend
You give me a reason to smile, my friend
You give me strength to persevere and try
When I needed it most, a shoulder on which to cry
When I need someone in which to confide
You're there to listen right by my side
With suicidal thoughts I cried to you
With understanding and care you pulled me through
You mean so much in so many ways
A true beacon to brighten my darkest of days
In meeting you i've found great treasure and wealth
Someone who accepts me, let's me act myself
You're close to my heart, my amity will never bend
You give me so many reasons to smile, my friend

Thanks so much for this beautiful poem. I'm copy-and-pasting it right now and will keep and treasure it "forever and ever". Never would I have thought that so talented a poet as you would ever write little old me a poem. I echo the expressed sentiment, magnify it a billion times, and send it scooting right back.
