You say that you’ll be calling me,
But I know it will never come.
I wonder why you say it?
Is it really that much fun?

Why bother even to promise me?
Why even waste your time?
Why lead me on to somehow think,
You ever could be mine?

If you promise something do it.
Don’t let others get up hopes.
For it won’t be long before they know,
They are being silly dopes.

The phone just rang a moment ago,
While I was deep in slumber.
I woke up hoping it was you,
But it was another darn wrong number.

Please report poetry and or comments that are in breach of our site rules HERE (Please include poem title or url). Parents also please ensure that you supervise your children well when they are on the internet; regardless of what a site says about being, or being considered, child-safe.
