A MIDNIGHT VISION

In the hour of darkness, the sky is filled with smoke and light.
the breeze is calm, chills fill his body, and he is alone.
A small cat arrives, tinkering along searching for some fun,
The silence fills the area and there is no one.
The terror of one who watches knows of death.
He looks and wonders if his time has come, Does he know?
What is to become of the watcher of children, The Protector?
Animosity lingers within him. Pain runs through his veins.
Loneliness is his best friend now. Death will take him early.
His secret to protect will be unknown, His happiness lies within
the innocence of the ones he loves. The Children.
