Caught in the Past?

Contributed by drgnreborn on Wednesday, 28th January 2004 @ 09:49:14 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

No more questions will I answer
My past is my past
Some knowledge is a cancer
It could end what should last

The truth behind my fear
Why no answers, will I give
I want to keep you near
The past, I don’t want to re-live

I’m always so afraid
Wondering how long it will last
Is the path of my life paved?
Can I leave behind my past?

Yes, everyone is judged
For his or her mistakes
So long, this path I’ve trudged
And longed to forsake

Whether it be true or not
This is what I believe
On our same paths we’re caught
When a lover’s judgment does take seed

I hope and pray and wish
My path through life I’ll cut
Through each and every skirmish
I’ll avoid the same old rut

I want you to see me clearly
And see who I’ve become
I love you & me too dearly
To believe my past has won

So, I don’t want you to know
Every mistake that I’ve made
If caught in the past, I can’t grow
Knowledge for love, I hope you’ll not trade

To pass from day to day
Is like walking through a door
Once walked through, you must stay
So close it and of the past think no more!

Excellent write here. Too many people live in the past. Too many people when threatened bring up the past of the other. It haunts, you learn from it, it is a part of you, you never should you have to answer to it. Mistakes learned and are truely sorry for doing always seem to get re-lived. Can always find to blame the past. I really enjoyed this and I hope my comment makes some sense at all. I am re-living mine almost too often. Good luck with yours. -LG-

Well , there are part of my past which I want to erase, too bad I can't. Yeah, some people live in the past, too bad I'd like to move on. Great poem.

i believe that the past should stay in the past, i cant really say that, cause i live in the past sometimes, but people do change. so if someone did something bad before, i believe that they shouldnt be made to feel small because of it. but if someone wants to stay in their own past then thats fine. thats just my opinion tho...... this is a great poem, its got my vote! luv phil xxx

I really enjoyed this poem. It rang a certain truth to me.
