Exclaimed the Caterpillar,
"But he doesn't listen to me at all!"
Answered the Mongoose before he devoured her,
"Why should he when your at his beck and call?"

Maybe words are exhausted
And feelings look distorted
Maybe dreams appear faded
And makes one feel jaded
Maybe life's timing
Has compromised plans most shining
Maybe the Mongoose has devoured
In tender moments allowed
Maybe at "Beck and Call"
Doubt that thought at all ! |

Is this like a relationship? Catapillar = Wive and Mongoose = Husband?
The wife is angry because her husband doesn't listen? And the husband just doesn't see her frustration, because she keeps up her act?
Catapillars turn into butterflies. Any link there? |

What's with this "your" in the last line, shouldn't it be you're...... and who doesn't listento the catapiller?
Now the Mongoose said "why should he (listen).....Who's he..............? and why did the Mongoose eat her ( who was as patient as a monument) or was it the catapillar that was devouered?
Case abandonned for lack of evidence

my morals as easy as pie,
beyond tangible words; symbols,
the answer is between the lines,
read each from title to copyrite,
the moral is really quite clear
so who will get it right?
~so far yodo is the closest, with the mention of the caterpillar link......................
~read with your heart not your eyes~
*abstract hint: the moral is a truth about love and life. |

Note that catter-pillar(monument) has to stay very still for a long time to come out as a butterfly. Love changes like a butterfly.
This person who saw great beauty in the flowers (girl) won't listen to the catterpillar (love) because he has it under his thumb. So the butterfly never gets a chance to be, and love never fully blooms.
Eh? |

oh let me have another go at this one lmao - umm hmmmmm men are dense and we women wait and wait and wait for them to figure things out - but they never do so we turn into butterflies and fly off to sunny Jamaica for a holiday -- uh no that's no it....Oh dear! Ummmm
women watiing patiently, men who don't listen, women who are at a man's beck and call, so why should he listen when he gets what he wants anyway. Ummmmmm the mongoose is love?
Now I'm simply confusing myself....
Nessa I think you will have to write a much longer poem explaining this one - the Lady and the Mongoose or something like that. LMAO
merry
off to bed - my head hurts from thinking

No no, the Catterpillar is love. The mongoose is inteligence. Or maybe the mind. Remember there's constant conflict between the brain and heart. Your intelect says one thing, and your heart says another. Essentialy, the mongoos has the power to destroy the catterpillar. The mind has the power to crush the heart, and thus prevent butterflies.
BAM! I got it. I must have. |

It seems to me that She i.e. the caterpiler i.e. the wiife is (typically) moaning (as usual) that her husband i.e.the mongoose, doesn't listen to her...but she remains patient.......
He, i.e. the mongoose, is a (typically) insensitive male who takes what he wants whenever he wants (by right)
The poem is a warning to young women that ...."If you want to be a butterfly, don't believe everything you read in the Old Testament"
