Wolf...... with hindsight

There he stood ......immaculate
Black blazer with gold and red shield
just like a "racehorse punter"
shrewdly "eyeing the field".
She'd seen his like many times before
it usually filled her with loathing.......
A tall well built rugby football type
A real wolf...........in real wolf's clothing
His eyes finally reached her
like spotlights clear and steady.
Two seconds and he headed her way
intriguing?........but she was ready.
Once they were in eachothers arms
Nothing seemed quite the same
They both realised in seconds
THIS wasn't ......."the same old game"
Within six months they were married
(their homes 200 miles apart)
It was either make or break......
and both.of them followed their heart
----------------------------------------------
Come forward with me now, 50 yrs
The scene is a Super Mart
He's lost her (as he always did)
when pushing the trolley cart
The Supervisor said "She's comming!"
When she saw his elderly wife
an oldish but smart looking woman
only just past the prime of life.........
She remarked as much to the husband
"How smart his wife looked......and fit"
But HIS eyes always looked 'cross a ballroom floor
.............................................
and she hadn't changed a bit.

Wow.. you took me there to that time and place... You know you have a sharp sense of pointing out specific details to make distinct. "tall well built rugby player... a real wolf..." great imagery = great poetry. Entertaining literature you write for your audiences amusement, very impressive. |

oh bob the only word that comes to my mind is loving and endearing. This is a splendid write......almost dropped a tear or two...for a man to feel the emotions it took for you to write a poem like this is endearing and very much real, but ohhhhhhhhhhow very unusual. I'm so glad you never lost your heart's feelings......most men have you know.
Wonderful Wonderful Write.....she's a very lucky lady indeed?

Dearest Bob,
Thanks for taking me back to witness
a moment of such beauty and romance.
I have always thought that I was born too
late and the way you have written this
gave me goosebumps and warmed my
heart . Thanks so much for this lovely
trip back in time.

Such tenderness is not always seen in verse. This touches the heart and mind, leaving one with a contentment we all need. Very nice Bob. June |
