Rose Petals on Barren Ground

-----------__________-------------

Life is full of twists and turns
Love freely sent, not returned
On angels wings the devil flies
While deep in hell my heart does lie

Rose petals fall on barren ground,
Dropped, abandoned, blown away,
By frozen winds.
Sitting alone under starless skies
Dreaming all night,
Planning all day
Our first embrace.

A farewell hug, a parting touch,
Day dream long of a farewell kiss,
Which no lips will ever feel.
As tears roll down to barren ground.

I've looked into those sultry eyes
Ever believing they could never lie.
Listening to dreams of better days,
Of times gone past, dreams gone dry.

Waiting to see you under starless skies
Waiting for our first, and last embrace
A farewell kiss.
Waiting alone under starless skies,

Knowing well deep inside
You'll never show
Fearing to see you...
Fearing I've missed you

Sitting alone in the chill night air
Saying our last farewell... alone
As rose petals fall on barren ground

Rose petals sent across the miles
Trying to force a single smile
A smile to light the darkest day
A smile never seen, I fear to say

Rose petals sent to mend your dreams
Remove the pain, return the gleam
Nightmares spring from pleasant dreams
Stay awake late....avoid the screams!

Rose petals sent to a far off land
Hoping to lend a lifting hand
Rose petals placed on barren ground
To soften the fall, muffle the sound

Life is strange with it's twists and turns
Love can cure ... yet often burns
Rose petals sent to quench the flames
When no ones around to ease the pain

On barren ground I plant a seed
Will flowers grow.... or only weeds?
On barren ground life could spring anew
If these rose petals are nourished by only you!
