My life is passing by the car window
and you are asking me
when will I be back?
I sigh and sit back
in my seat
and answer you with
soon honey.
I should have told you
my life is passing by the car window
along with the people
who know where they are going
and I am here
driving
with you.
I could be anywhere
I wanted to
if only I put my mind to it.
Maybe I wouldn't be here
driving past my life and watching it walk by
through my car window.
What I can't tell you is
my spirit has been pacing
behind the doors of her cage
and now the door is open
and she sees her life passing by
her car window.
What I want to tell you
is that a cat always lands on her feet
and looking out my window
I want to jump back into my life
along with the people who know
where they are going
so I can be where I want to be.
My life is passing by the car window
and you are asking me
when will I be back?
I sigh and sit back
in my seat
and answer you with
I don't know, honey.
