Pomegranate Wine

Contributed by Butterat_Zool on Monday, 26th January 2004 @ 03:22:39 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I told you how I loved you,
how you made my heart soar.
You giggled like a stoner
and wiggled on the floor.

I laughed like I had cavities
and asked you to be mine
and you just drank up all
of your pomegranate wine.

We parachuted from the moon
and walked the whole way home
and while you didn’t touch a single crack,
my cold hand felt all alone.

Soon your parents had betrothed you
to a heart that wasn’t mine
and while I waited full of stupor,
you drank pomegranate wine.

So we mated ‘til your wedding day
and my heartstrings did unwind,
and then stoic as a fountain pool,
you left my world behind.

So I watched your hand get married
to a heart that wasn’t mine,
and that same night, I took a bath
in pomegranate wine.

So I’ve watched the TV twinkle
and I’ve smoked away my mind
and my only cause to thank the Lord
is pomegranate wine.

Without the love I’d hoped to win,
I leave this world behind
with some poison, a few blood thinners.
a beautiful smile, a few days of stubble,
three glasses of water, and a bottle or two
of your lovely, world-famous
pomegranate wine.

Unique, bubbly, well worded and simply divine! This was a joy to read. Although the ending I didn't seem coming. This is an all around ((5)) in my eyes.
