April Mournings

Contributed by Mouth on Sunday, 25th January 2004 @ 01:49:21 AM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

It seems a lifetime has passed since you left
And, although the space is an empty void
I can still remember your laugh.
But, it is not in those mundane things
That I tend to hold your place.
There are irreversilble shades of color
That bind you and I together.
Green eyes always liked to have fun-
Hazelnut hair, molasses strands
Pink lips, shapely hips-
A goddess of milk and honey.
Still, it remains you are gone.
You stood too beautiful to linger here,
Along the vast wastelands of decay.
Nothing but smog for miles
And, as I look around
I know you are still alive
In some incandesent place,
Beyond my thoughts that know
Only logic, and empty space.
Know too, this is true-
You blossom in my heart
Each month of april
When the birds delight in song,
The air smells of mint and lilacs
And the sun is warm, like a mother.
These things remind me of you.
Know as well to be true, that
Time has a way of leaving distance
In between reality and memories,
They slowly diminish and wash away
Like dreams amerced in the day.
And fate seals our demise with a smile-
So blow me that kiss good-bye,
'Cause it always leaves room
For one more hello, for one last try.
I know.
I know,
Sometimes, it's just our time to go.

I couldn't let this go without saying how much it moved me, how beautifully you wrote it ... it flowed with so much love that I hardly noticed the despair wrapped up in each line ... just so tender and perfect ... thank you ... Jan

Wow!
this is a breathe taking write.
It imediatly reminds me of the first Spring here after my father passed seven years ago.
It was the most beautifull Spring I had experienced till then. It was magical.
Course I was so grieved I couldn't enjioy it like I normally would but I'll never 4 get it.
I can't comprehend losing one of my two daughters but both my parents are deceased .
Dads with mom and they both have their wings and super natural powers 2 watch over all eight of us kids, all grown.
My Sister lost a son ayear ago July and I really admire u both jus to have strength to go on. I know it's not an easy thing to do. Your writing imortalizes her beauty.
masterpeice.
luv, hugs,
emy

A very touching elegy. Lovely. It must really hurt. But I believe in tears. Sometimes they're the only way to make the heart whole again.
And I think the line "some incandesent place" one of the most beautiful I've read in a long time.
Blessings and hope to you.
Andrew

I absolutely agree!Breathtaking write !How sad for you to have gone through such pain...I know what you've been through,at least half the pain you feel right now in your heart---I too have lost a friend, and she was just 20 years old,and everyday I think about her, wondering what she's doing up in heaven if she's watching over me and the ones she loves.Isn't it so true "I know you are still alive
In some incandesent place,
Beyond my thoughts that know
Only logic, and empty space."
Only our minds can't build that bridge to full the gap that lets us know everything is alright in their heaven up there,we just have to believe with our hearts and pray for their souls. That's the only thing we can do and the nicest thing we can do as well.As my mother once told me:You are now closer to her than before, for now you are not communicating face to face, but soul to soul, and nothing is stronger than what a soul reflects.Stay strong and I will make sure to include Sarah in my prayers tonight.May God bless,
PumpkinPie
