UN-beautiful

Contributed by dreamz on Friday, 23rd January 2004 @ 12:48:40 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Being a teenage isn't all it's cracked up to be
There's so many pressures others just don't see
It's so hard to try to fit in
It's all about being beautiful, being thin
Christina Aguilera says "You are beautiful, no matter what they say"
But how can she know? She hasn't had to go through life feeling rejected every single day
In today's world zero is not just a number, but the ideal size
It's all about having blonde hair, blue eyes, longs legs, big boobs, and nice thighs.
People say I'm lucky because I have true beauty - "the beauty within"
I've tried to accept that but I go through life not fitting in.
Somedays I wake up thinking of this ugly life I dread
Somedays I think I might rather be dead.

This is very good social commentary I enjoy the way it isnt preaching from a pedistal, for the record inner beauty is worth far more, shallow self centered people are annoying and usually fools that sacrificed whta they want to look good...
ahem... good poem

I'm glad you write instead.

"The Cares of life carry us
like a deadly blowing wind
but when we feel like giving up
we talk unto our friends"

Don't give up, get stronger from the expirience by usining your hard times to be an example for those who don't know how to.

I know what your talking about. It's hard being a teenager, but i wonder if it's any easier when your in your 20's? I kind of doubt it. From what I've seen, being an adult isn't that great either.
