Eyes of Blue

Contributed by Tanna on Tuesday, 3rd September 2002 @ 06:23:56 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Lost and alone I face my fears
No one notices my silent tears

All that's visable is my shell
I am within, but no one can tell

My body is withered, broken, old
My mind is still sharp, to this I must hold

No one can hear my silent screams
I beleive I've gone mad, or so it seems

For movement of limb, I would barter my soul
"Why me?" runs through my head - I've lost all control

My eyes blue and vacant, my body feels small
Nothing is important anymore, not at all

Destiny dealt, to me this has been handed
I live in torment, damned, I've been branded

Each day I pleaded "Take me God, I'm Yours!"
As the hired help washed my body, busy at their chores

To them I was a number, a casualty of fate
For me to make them understand, truely see me - it was to late

For finally the Reaper had scratched at my door
For Death's cold embrace I could wait no more

"My prayers have been answered!", I rejoyced in my head
With an existance such as this, I'd rather be dead

They will never know the woman that used to be
All they knew was the one who's car met the tree

They would never know the woman inside
Who cried like a child and swallowed her pride

Her soul was in there all along, but no one knew
All they saw was a lifeless body, and vacant eyes of blue.

Wow .. this is a wonderful write. I would hate that feeling too and wish badly to die - to be stripped bare of your pride and for everyone to think you couldn't feel emotions anymore would be an awful way to see out the end of life. Well written. .... Jan
