Disfigured Hope

The shadows overspread the vacant walls
And in the corner, a nightmare crawls
Covered in darkness, cloaked in black
I watch as the ceiling begins to crack
I glimpse a figure, in the corner of my eye
It disappears, and I start to cry
Gone is my one chance of company
The disfigured hope leaves me lonely
What's left in this cell is just me and my mind
Which is possibly the worst thing I could find
The light in my life, eats away at my soul
So I turn to the darkness, black as charcoal
Although it does bring me, no hope, no joy
Unlike the light, it does not destroy
Nobody knows, how it tears me apart
Or the constant pain embedded deep in my heart
So here I sit, though my blood stains the walls,
Ready to embrace the nightmare that crawls.
