A Trilogy of Short Poems on Life

Contributed by wrybod on Thursday, 22nd January 2004 @ 08:13:15 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

No. 1 CHANCES

Now sta-tis-tic-ly
the chances that we
will get killed
are a million to one

In-di-vid-ually
there's no odds or degree
like.........you're either still here......
or you've gone!

No. 2 SUCCSESS

When your efforts seem to founder,
may I venture to confide.
It's not so much you're right or wrong
as who is on your side.

No. 3 NO SECOND CHANCE

The "pile up" was horrendous
so I knew I must be dead!
My spirit seemed intact
despite my body being shed.
An Angel came to take me "up"
to face my "judgement day"
and mentioned all the rotten things
I'd done along the way.......................

I promised her that next time,
I'd lead a better life
be kind to everybody,
especially my wife.
Alas my hopes were shattered
by her negative response...........
..................................................
"It doesn't work that way my friend.........
You only happen once!"

Hi Bob,
I look forward to your postings - they're like a breath of fresh air. I think of your style as 3Ps - Pithy, Positive, Pertinent..

BRAVO!BRAVO!BRAVO! Roses at your feet.
Never have ever seen a poem so neat!
You my dear friend are crafty, cunning, but most of all creative in all you endeavor....I just love your poem Bob........with all their flavor!
I want you to know that all your emails have been coming back......one at a time....and they are saying....they are being delayed.....so I figured you must be flying over the channel shooting them down!
Just wanted you to know through no fault of mine....I didn't gang up on you this time....for they will probably all land at your email box all at the same time
Wonderful Poem

#2 is very true.
You've captured a fact
that cause all to react
not what you know
but who you know
is what they say
can open the door
to a brighter day.

short and true-- is your #2
and after saying that
I bid you adieu!
