I believe I have hurt you
Not meaning to.
I wasn’t aware of your feelings
For me, of unsure dealings?
I had said I would only be a friend
It’s all I wanted to be, perhaps more you intend?
You’re just recently separated
Feelings you had of other adulterated
I was there as a friend, no more
Caring, feeling your pain, heartbreak lore
You said it was your time to be steady
Even though I knew you weren’t ready
Your eyes gleam as you talk about a new gal
But I hope you move slow, just be a pal
You still need time to heal,
Your mate I know, for you she feels
You tell me all of what is your life
You too, still care; love your wife
So give it some time, no roaming eye
For I sense something has gone awry
Be alone for now, its what you need
Contemplations of life’s misgivings, deeds
Friendship is what I share
For I really do care
Sometimes friends need to hurt
Maybe unintentionally,
But when you do see your reality
The pain your friend inflicted
Was meant to see the imp listed
Of what you need to do
This is a real friend
They come so far and few

Wow! This hits home with affairs of the heart
being the most perplexing after deep hurts. It's easy to fall in love quickly with that new shoulder you cry on. Could be a blessing or a curse! |
