A Myriad Of Desires

Contributed by Vitreous_Soul on Wednesday, 21st January 2004 @ 07:08:44 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

When there's darkness inside you can't repress it forever
Try as you might past emotions won't sever
Hopeless, pointless, an exhausting endeavor
If only it were as simple as throwing a switch or a lever

When your eyes meet injustice you cry and you scream
Look to the stars for a comforting gleam
The light of loneliness is eternal, or so it would seem
Wondering if another soul bathes in the same beam

Feeling powerless, not a thing you can do
Hard as you look, nothing comes into view
A concept understood by far too few
Light must break the void to let inner beauty shine through

Who will be steadfast, who will be loyal
I look up to the skies then straight down to the soil
Implore the world, who will quell this turmoil
Guide a blackened soul back to this mortal coil

So many to tell you that you're loving and great
They say it'll come, be patient and wait
They don't realize that at this blindingly fast rate
Life will pass by, and you'll catch it too late

Buried deep within
There lies a diminishing brilliance
In consuming darkness it still burns
In vain it shines
For this light holds no warmth

For this glacial soul
There is but one prayer
Spoken to a heavenless sky

"I need somebody to be my beacon
My shooting star on a cloudy night
My angel to come and make it alright

I need somebody to catch me
A heart with love to enter my sight
To end this fall and help me take flight"

So many wishes spawned from one desire
The need for a spark to re-ignite the fire

It's the waiting that's hard.
But even harder when Life ends up passing you by anyway.

Love it.

Keep writing,
-Eve.
