_______________________________
the awful fluorescent lighting
washes out the faces
leaves stark reminders for tips
don't forget your hat
the gray brown flat color
of the man next to me
and the woman wearing purple
scowls at something
I cannot see, you keep talking
telling me what's going to be
and I keep hoping it is all true
because I want to believe
in the wind and the rain
and Santa Claus again
I wonder when I lost that train of thought
where did innocence go
and why didn't I notice it
the greasy food tastes good tonight
newcomers let in the cold air
as the door falls slowly shut
we laugh too loud and get a dirty look
because you said dick
and she didn't like that at all
our bellies are full
and we are full of ourselves
and our irreverent humor
sets the place on its ear
we walk out into the cold
getting back our color in the night

I swear...it's as if it's a play and I see it all happening right before my eyes. You have the golden touch Gaille. You make the common seem like a fairytale :o)
