Now I lay me down to sleep...

Every night laying down to more than sleep,
REM doesn't set in till after instant insanity,
Thoughts cloud the mind too heavily for rest,
Dreams of such vividness can't be deciphered,
No explanations for renegade thoughts,
Feeling not right - very close to the edge,
Indescribable emotions beg for sins,
Damning the right things always done,
Not laying down to another - to oneself,
Spiritually radicalization with power impeccable,
No possible drug could project this state,
Occurring dependably upon innocent unconsciousness,
Perhaps this isn't me - not the same as before,
In ways other than words - is something being said?
Depression? What if sadness hadn't been felt in days?
I doubt even death could distort twisted entertainment,
Cumulative disturbances have changed a boy to this man,
Survival seems gloom in a mental basement,
No natural blemish could harm me there, yet -
Concrete walls can't protect one from himself,
In fact, in this state, seeming rather harmful,
Contemplating human mental compatibleness,
Wondering if we ever really see things the same,
AH! These questions contested - are futile,
Complexities NEVER to be answered, REM,
it all ends as it fades, when it all becomes nonsense,
As it were, just realizing now, a waste of time,
Shutting down as if there were no control, REM,
Rooms in my mind had been set to fire,
Fatigue had seen enough, and came to the rescue,
REM doesn't set in till after instant insanity,
Every night laying down to more than sleep.

Nice write. Rather dark. I can relate to the lack of sleep part. At least I read that in there to an extent. I loved this one. |
