Where were you?

Contributed by hawaii06 on Sunday, 18th January 2004 @ 08:23:31 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

Sometimes I sit and wonder where you were when I needed you most. Where you were on those days I cried, on my birthday, on Christmas and every other holiday.
You never wrote me; you never called, so where were you?

I guess you never really realized that you had a third child, you never stopped by.
When I left to go to a private school, you still never wrote or called.
Where were you?

You never said you loved me, or that I remember. I was just wondering if you ever even hugged me. You wrote my sister and my brother on their birthdays, but you never wrote me on my birthday. Where were you?

Don’t you know I exist? I wonder what I am in your life, am I something or am I nothing? Well, from what I experienced I’m nothing to you.

You never acted like anything to me; you never cared about me, but I still called you daddy. And you know what, I’m still wondering, where you were.

Now you’re sitting in jail, alone, and bored. It’s not my fault you’re there, so why should I care? … Right? … No, wrong. You’re my father. Yes, I do care. But I’m not going to grieve for you, because you were never there. So, where were you?

a bitter sweet ending, a tragic tale, a very humble way of kicking his butt. hope it made him come a little closer.

You should get a letter from your dad real soon.Sometimes when we do something wrong we believe it is better NOT to get in touch with the ones we love.I did that to my family once....Hated doing it at the same time but could not bring myself to write, even though I knew I was creating a huge problem.
I stuck my head in the sand.
