Casualty Case

Contributed by EmSal on Saturday, 17th January 2004 @ 04:59:02 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

She remembers the smell, rain, dust and petrol. The scene still plays in her mind, roll after roll. She still hears the screeching tyres and his last final scream. The bright lights from the other cars high beam.

She still feels the fear of losing a moment, of becoming numb. She can still feel the gritty tears that was to come. She still sees the lifeless body lying next to her. She can still see the thick tears that made her vision blur.

She still feels the cold rain as it dripped heavily on her skin, still sees the tyres even after the car has stopped, rotate spin after spin. Still feels the bruise on her chest from her seatbelt. She remembers how that dreadful day felt.

She can’t remember how she managed to get through that night. She can’t remember how she let him out of her sight. She can’t remember asking for him to be there. Her heart can’t remember giving a care.

Silent the years gradually roll by, her pillow stained with layers of tears, she can’t help to cry. Every night the tears are scheduled to fall down her face, because to everyone else he was just another casualty case.
