Every day I see you growing, changing.
Rhythms of responsibility
illuminate the spark of maturity
call attention to the inescapable
arrival of womanhood.
Lest I be caught napping
and miss the inevitable
I peer closely at
nuances so subtle as to be
earmarked for later scrutiny.
Better that I watch the evolution
as an interested bystander
dusting off the pangs of separation
giving out yeas and nays
elicited or not
Releasing you to stand alone, undaunted.

This is a great write..... I can see in it a lot of how you treat her as a growing person, not just a kid. Which I totally respect. A lot of people will be over protective and not let their kids live (some of my friends have a huge problem with that). But I really respect this. Letter her become her own unique person. And a great poem as well. Acrostics (atleast when I do them) seem so cheesy, but this was beautiful.
God bless,
Ellen |
