Between Duke Morley's castle and Castle Throme,
two days trip needed be thus made in time.
Duke Morley rode a handsome bay from home
and halted self at Broughton Place of pine.
With knight Stephanus Marcus he drank deep of wine,
together they did speak of Morley's go.
And while men stay long, they on pheasants dine,
discussing week's events of knights and foe.
Of James and Saint Charles seeking great King Laurence woe.
Duke Morley's conversation yesterday
with great King Laurence wasn't mentioned fain.
Its confidential nature needed stay
concealed in Morley's closely guarded brain.
And loathed to keep from knight trip's purpose plain,
still he must honor monarch's secret scheme.
Escutcheon's lion Morley mustn't stain.
But knight's strong presence teamed at Throme did seem
the better way of wisdom, safety made supreme.
