Shattered Glass

Contributed by randomised_dreams on Wednesday, 14th January 2004 @ 10:55:12 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

What do you think I see
When I look at you?
Is it so hard to understand
Why I feel as I do;
Torn and shredded
Empty where the heart should lie.
No life; just lies
And a fake alibi.
What do you think I hear
When I talk to you?
The words spilling out,
Falling to the ground; no sound.
Speaking of your ‘perfect’ life
Wearing your ‘perfect’ shoes,
Tapping your ‘perfect’ feet.
I once looked at you
And I saw myself;
Myself as I wanted to be.
Now all that I can see
Is a distorted image; blurry
Against the world as it should be.
You were the mirror, my friend,
But the reflection dithered years ago.
Now all that remains
Is the shattered glass
And an empty frame which held everything together.

Those lines are gonna be stuck in my head for a long time. Really great job.
