I received a message from a friend today,
Ripping, stealing my happiness away,
Bringing an end to my illusionary world,
With only six simple never spoken words
‘Stop dreaming you’re not a poet’,
It was just a simple comment,
Striking me with the force of a thunder,
Why does it hurt so much? I wonder…
I kept repeating those words again, again, again,
But the conclusions were always the same,
The truth’s devastating; I lived in a lie, an illusion,
Only six… vice…. words…..delusion

ryhme, flow......reads like a poem, has a lot of emotion like a poem...I think that makes you a POET!! Tell yer friend she wouldnt know poetry if it bit her in the .....
well you get the idea. :oP

I like that.....Hey don't listen to anyone who puts you down or tells you your writing isn't good.....Some people just don't have the depth to relate to emotions which go beyond the surface(it's like they just don't get it)......Your writing is good, keep going girl!

You are definitely a poet, well done. Don't listen to your friend she obviously hasn't got a clue. Us poets have a gift of putting our feelings into words to make people understand us better, you did that hope she reads it, tell her to have a go, you could teach her!

| Arhh have she even read your work properly?? I bet she knows nothing about poetry. You sure she meant it? probably she just mess about...... Anyway, don't let anyone put you down, one can't please everybody, just carry on with your GOOD works and prove to her one day that she was wrong..... |

pffffff, only a crap! I donno what exactly makes you a poet...surely not only if you can rhyme and put words into strophes....but when your writings have a spirit, an idea that speaks to ppl who read it and if it touches them, then you are a poet ;) and that's what you do, even on this simple topic you've made it (y) :D
and, btw, who cares about how ppl call you? if you write coz you like it and someone else likes it as well (look at ppl here, they do!) then it's okay :))
anyways, honestly I think you are a poet :))

| As others have said, what is a true poet? I have come to learn that no matter what anyone says I myself consider myself a poet even if others don't. Don't let anyone tell you any different. Follow your dreams no matter where they will take you. |

Now, correct me if i'm wrong, but since you write poetry, doesn't that make you a poet? Your friend simply has no appreciation for the artform, and would never understand the emotion involved. Keep writing, I love your work. You are not only a poet, but a damn fine one at that.

Don't give up. Keep on writing poems. I told you you are good at that. May be for her you are not a poet but that doesn't matter. What you feel you are matters.

Take it from someone that is dreaming hes a poet anne, you are one of the greatest poets on this site i look forward to reading your poems and look even further and more forward to your next one, so dont listen to anyone that says your not a poet because your a prime example of everything in a poet i want to be
so keep up the amazing POETRY writes and tell you friend to go suck on a lemon filled with concentrated hydrocloric acid

I know how you feel during an (infrequent!) drinking bout with a friend, i happened to mention i would like to make a living writing, this was met by a smirk and he said "that's ok but how are you going to pay the bills? this annoyed me so much that i have done everything since he said this (2 months ago) to get my work known, i'm looking forward to the day i get published(and paid) just to see his face! and that's motivation enough for me!
