Well I've cleared out the room
swept the floor with my broom
but decorate?....Not on your nelly!
He promised he would
do it first chance he could......
(Like..... he's broke and there's nothing on Telly'.)
Optomistic.....I know
That was three weeks ago
so it's no big surprise I'm downhearted.
He's been up there since nine'
but still there's no sign
that the actual job has got started!
Not a sound is ensuing.
What can he be doing?
Why is it one feels one can't win?
I'll just slip up and see
(with a nice cup of tea)
Well............it could get the lid off the tin!

lol... this just tickles me! I loved the opening stanza; caught me right from the start. And the ending was divine! I like the way the last line could have a double meaning, based on how the reader sees it. This was terrific, just what I needed this morning. Easy to read, easy to relate, easy to chuckle!

Dear Bob,
This poem was hilarious, all consuming with
human nature, and wives are very patient,
we have to be that's for sure!
But I know you Bob...whether you wanted to or
or not....I'd bet you went right a head and
decorated instead....of fishing...of course!
I love poems where you are able to peek into
a person's thoughts to seek
the answer's to their problems!
