I live in a place where even tree branches compete for the light
Each one it tries to outgrow the others; leaving them weeping in its shadow
And how ironic it is that they come from the same roots
They must know theyre only hurting themselves in the end
But they could care less, its so indivisualized
No matter how close knit your group may be
For that one moment they'll sacrifice everything,
Even their family members
But you have to realize, the life of one measly tree branch can't be satisifying
Any second now some dumb kid could come along and rip if off;
Throw it on the ground and stomp on it just to hear that crunch sound
It will be suffocated in dirt
And then even the dimmest hope of light
Will be no more.
