I Thought He Was Perfect

Contributed by putteragain on Monday, 12th January 2004 @ 06:43:25 PM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

He was the man
I loved as a child
To me he was "cool"
older and wild
I lived and loved
like never before
I believed it perfect
no need for more
Ten years together
5 children we share
Now never at home
showed me he don't care
Drugs to escape
the hell i had chosen
The abuse had left me
and my heart ...frozen
In prison he sat
with time now to think
So deeper inside me
i then did sink
Alone we became
children and I
I thought he was perfect
THAT WAS A LIE

I have to tell you I really, REALLY liked this poem. Although tragic, filled with pain and reflective it was excellently written. I hope you are going to be okay, it sounds like you have had a tough time.

sometimes people are not at all what we think they are. Great poem, expressed all of the sadness and disappointment of a marriage gone bad.

Hugs
