Proud To Be An American
I’m proud to be an American,
But I’m not always proud of what we do.
I’m not one to turn a deft ear,
Than rather hear what’s true.
I’m not proud of the violence,
That we see on the streets.
Or the fact that millions,
Don’t have enough to eat.
I’m not proud of the laws we pass,
Taking away Americans rights.
All in the name of the,
Homeland security fight.
I’m not proud of having to take down,
The ten commandments from a public place.
Or the fact that hatred,
Still has to do with race.
I’m not proud of our parents,
Who are no longer the role leaders of our youth.
We have children raising children,
To tell the truth.
I’m not proud of the education system,
And it’s lack of government funding.
Where are our leaders?
What kind of state,
Are we running?
I’m not proud that we have taken religion,
Out of our schools.
Without God in the lead,
We’re like carpenters without tools.
