You Must Look the Part

Contributed by norm on Sunday, 11th January 2004 @ 02:34:26 PM in AEST
Topic: HumorPoetry

I went to buy a Caddy,
I thought I'd look quite natty,
The salesman thought me batty,
The clothes I wore were ratty.

The salesman he did quiry,
He looked a little leary,
I answered, cold as Peary,
The salesman's eyes were teary.

I've come to buy this car,
You're the worst I've seen, so far,
My senses, you do jar,
You're nothing but a nar.

Out I stalked like little major,
and I was one big rager,
with a beeping yellow pager,
Somewhat smarter, somewhat sager.

Doesn't matter if you've money,
You've got to look like honey,
You've got to look quite sunny
Now isn't that quite funny.

Y'know norm that is very true
I've seen your photograph
and I think I dress something like you
but my style would make you laugh

There is a basic reason it's so
things can happen slick
when I gotta go, I gotta go
the operative word is QUICK!

truth be told I heard them say
Millionares don't dress that way
But the cover does not show the book
They need to take another look

for clothes do not make the man
and he may not need a hand
dressed to kill and all the honey
probably means he already spent his money

Weeelllll now folks, things have changed abit
since I was very young. For as a girl I used to work in LasVegas. I stayed with Aunt and Uncle, and they too agreed...it was the guys with all the money that dressed loose and funny! The ones without were trying to impress...they used to overdo their impressive dress!
My father was rich, but didn't want us to know.
He wore coveralls and old hats galore.
He told me before he died...even the junk man cut him a price....he dressed raggedly...to get things cheap he thought that very was nice!
Funny Funny poem, Norm
