One Peaceful Night

Contributed by Maha on Sunday, 1st September 2002 @ 07:48:05 AM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

We dream of a simple right,
Of a peaceful quiet night,
Of a shining sunny day,
Where fears are far away.

We vision at such a peaceful night,
A small family turning on the light,
Enjoying a warm intimate gathering,
With lots of sweet playful bantering.

We imagine mama’s tender voice,
Calling us; it’s time to rejoice,
Lots of tasty foods and goodies are on the way;
Eat and enjoy, then get ready for a new day.

The next morning, we envision a young boy,
Coming from school full of liveliness and joy.
Excited and eager to tell mommy about his day,
Mommy waiting at the door to hug him like everyday.

So usual a scene to be talked about,
But not for many who want to shout,
To tell the world that this simple life,
Is a FAR dream for every Palestinian wife.

A VERY ordinary family life is a DREAM,
VERY SIMPLE, but unlike any other dream,
Because not even one peaceful day or night,
Seems to be any Palestinian family’s right.

how true, how true. I have never been to Palestine, but I have a good friend that lives in Ramallah... Life is indeed difficult for him. At any rate, great write!
