Your Eyes At Night
January 9, 2004
Every time I close my eyes I think of you,
How my fingers traced your lips and my dreams came true.
Two figures in the dark, lying side by side,
Every time I close my eyes I see you on my bedside.
How you hands are always exploring,
And what your whispers are imploring.
Hunger haunts in every breath I take,
To feel you near when I awake.
Every time I close my eyes,
I feel your heart beat right next to mine.
I know your eyes are looking through,
At me, and you, and what is true.
Sweet kisses in the midnight hour,
Long sighs from you I shower.
Every time I close my eyes,
I feel your lips along my skin,
And crave to know that feeling again.
Tonight I'll call to you once more,
And lead you through the bedroom door.
Every time I close my eyes,
I am contented with a smile of surprise,
The slow turning of my head to yours,
To join our aching love to see what it endures.
And every time I see those eyes,
Smiling above me into my own,
I can't help but simply sigh and moan,
For I love you tonight.
So every time I see those eyes,
To you my heart will rise.
When soft skin's sweat is gone and dried,
I won't remember when I cried.
Because every time I close my eyes,
I tuck away my goodbyes.
