I will not kill,
Not even for my country.
To me,
Lands are not divided by the seas,
Just as my skin divides not
My brother from me.

Humanity stretches every inch of this soil
So I claim none as my own.
Life after all,
Is only a temporary home.

Our time here is borrowed from our children
We lay down the road their feet will walk.
I will not lead them into a coffin.
I will not ask them to die.

I will tell them that peace is worthy of struggle,
That freedom is a state of mind...

I will not speak the words of God as if I own them,
I know the only witness to God is a dead one.

I will not die for my religion,
So I claim none...
Prayer is spoken in my heart,
My temple lies within my mind.

I will not raise my fists to spead my beliefs-
Because they are impermanent
And ever changing
Just like the world.

I will not hate,
Not even the most evil of men
There is enough hate in the world.
It is hate that poisons the heart
And corrupts the mind.

I will not follow my life by rules
That punish murder
By commiting the same crime...

I will not pretend that humanity is fair or kind
Or that all men are created equal.
To each his own
Wether meek or stone
No two men are made the same...

I will not forget the lessons my ancestors have taught,
Or the torn world they have left me to mend...
In these fields of blood soaked soil
I will reap a harvest that leads to a new begining.

What a wonderful anthem of your beliefs you have penned here! You speak so eloquently of the heartache and heartbreak so rampant today.

"I will not raise my fists to (spread) my beliefs-
Because they are impermanent
And ever changing
Just like the world."

This is so real and important.

"I will not forget the lessons my ancestors have taught,
Or the torn world they have left me to mend...
In these fields of blood-soaked soil
I will reap a harvest that leads to a new (beginning)."

I love this stanza. If only more people felt this way. Wouldn't that change the world as we know it? :) Keep up the good work! And thanks for posting this.

Judy
