Before it All Began, Now That it's Here

Before it all began,
There was little girl, blonde and tan.
Her worries were of a child,
Her stories were an exaggerated wild.
Like any little girl she,
Didn't see.

What the spotlight pointed to,
Was not understood,
And so forgotten.

Before it all began,
There was a girl growing up,
Into her junior high world.
The spotlights she never saw before,
Became a lifeline leading her to the next door.
In total darkness,
What she saw was what she wanted.
She kept in the dark, how she was haunted.

Before it all began,
There was a girl evolving,
Into a life she saw was not revolving.
The Earth stopped spinning.
She stopped wiining.
And her courage was thinning.
No spotlights at night,
To show her the way anymore.
She made a wrong turn into the wrong door,
And lived trapped on the same floor,
Forever more.

Before it all began,
She looked ahead and saw her way.
But when the lights went out,
And she saw what she'd avoided,
The Earth stopped spinning.
She stopped winning.
And it began, at the beginning.

The sight in front of her eyes,
Was fogged and blurry...
Then she worried.
She worried real pain, real fear.
Not child like scares that had become clear.
Before it all began,
She was just a child.

Now that it's here,
That little girl has grown inside.
Foolish things of what she'd be,
Were deserted, and she cried.
First tears of pure agony,
She spent alone by herself in the cold.
Now that it's here,
She would be bold.
But that did not hold...
Self sympathy was not restrained,
As her last sting was pained.

Before it all began,
She was clear.
But when it came near,
She ran.
Now that it's here...
That little girl,
So old inside,
Just wants to confide.

A shoulder to cry on,
A voice to reassure.

That little girl,
So old inside,
Can't hide,
Anymore.

That little girl,
So cold inside.
She just needs to be held.

As a child,
Frightened by the dark would be,
In the middle of the night,
Hair smoothed, eyes soothed,
And voided of all fright.

That little girl,
So old,
So cold,
Inside,
Needs a someone,
Needs an anyone,
Someone, anyone,
To see,
That little girl,
Is me.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
