The Jester

Contributed by Avarice_Riot on Wednesday, 7th January 2004 @ 05:53:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I have mastered the art of wearing a mask
Taught myself how to spray illusion into everybody's eyes.
Illusion is a beautiful disease
It shows us exactly what we want to see
Exactly what we want others to see
But doesn't fool us into thinking we are who we want to be.
I snap my fingers and the magic trick ensues
Those who see me know me only as the jester.
The one who's the first to crack a joke
The one who'sure to entertain
The one who lives by making a fool of himself
The one they all come to for comic relief
The one whose advice they seek to be soothed
But the jester has noone to show his face to
when he's tired of his juggling act.
I can never take off this false face to breathe
This fear that holds me back I think
will be the end of me
Another insignificant demise
A jester's fate
Watch me fall from grace as everything
I have ever juggled rains down to mock me.
They'll walk by, they'll see my costume
Discarded and abandoned on the floor
They'll say: "Another clown bit the dust...
Oh well, on to the next one!"

Awesome poem.... I know exactly how it feels to be the clown and jester. This poem has touched me more than you will ever know. Beautiful enticing work. I love it!

Incredibly deep poem, probably the best i've seen on the subject. Your talent really shined through on this one.

Truly,
