Grave Secrets

Topic: DarkPoetry

Beneath the full moon
On a cold harvest night
White beams of glory
Filter through the trees
Graves hidden and shadowed
Tombstones… begging to be noticed
We heat their cries
As we step over the loved
The forgotten, the unforgiven
Cursed by the living
He believes in nothing
And I in all
His cross is inverted
Signifying his lack of faith
Labelling him, he labels himself
My cross is heavy
Just like his heart
I try to carry him
To give him rest
We lay between the dead
Feeling alive for the first time
Tension
Torture
Is all that divides us
We are the mosaic centrepiece
In this place of our rejuvenation
This sacred place for us
We have others
Whom we love
But not like we do each other
His world is dark
Filled with onyx chambers
Sometimes I wander
Through his black labyrinth heart
He is free at this moment
Even a snap of a tree branch
Footsteps of the past
Rifling through the intertwined
Roots of our friendship
Do not disturb him
At this precise moment
He is at peace
Finally at peace
Resting…
A sigh escapes his lips
He wonders what I am thinking
Does he think I am scared
I am
Terrified…
FOR him not of him
Not his mystery- not his misery
His darkness comforts me
He makes me reach for more
The iron gates of his soul
Have not prevented me from entering
Entering his eternal midnight
Entering the cemetery of his deadened thoughts
Thoughts he keeps buried
His memories are merely
Zombies in disguise
He does not believe in angels
But he knows that I am his
His faint light at the end
Of a haunted tunnel
His family, his friend
He loves like death
He craves the bitter cold
To feel the frost at his throat
He waits patiently
For the escape of life
Not by his own hand
But maybe by mine
He will not beg
He will only bleed
He will not weep
But I will sob
His eyes will brim with happiness
For the first time
All wrongs will be rectified
He says goodbye
At the hands of his dark angel
Leaving her his only regret
Content now
He crumbles to the ground
Happy to lie resting
To lay here…
Where it all began….
