Careless Wishes

You rest asleep in your hidden slumbers
as I lie awake through my nights
not ever sure what it would really take
but I've grown weary of this long fight.
You have the pages all in front of you
rule one through number umpteen
but you're too much like just your own
you always just ignore what you have seen.
Maybe it's just me and I need to learn to deal
or maybe it's simply because you're a man
either way , I'm tired of the coaster ride
and I'm not the only one who's ridden on this plan.
When you're trying to get something you're right to the "T"
or when someone else's interest threatens you
wanting me to play with this or that and more
baby........ wake up......fill your own shoes.
I tell you so many times over and then some
not too sure what it is that I'm supposed to do
I look at you and wonder what in the hell you wanted me for
took me from him just to show me nothing new.
I sit here amazed.....frustrated.......playing the "what if" game
so many time I've wondered why'd you wanna stay
what was all the blasted struggling for
if all you were gonna do was give up or give away.
I feel the shut down start his wicked trip
how else to protect the princess on his shelf
good bye to trust , hello to secrets but lies are over there
I becomes the she as the she erases herself.

I really focus when I read your poetry. You are a born story teller and you give a mysterious touch to everything I have read so far. It draws me in and I try to decipher what you are saying and at the same time totally taken by your work.

Dear Jaymee.....this one may not be deep to you, but I'm still dropping and snooping...searching trying to find the theme, sometimes I'm lost, and other times, I think I know what you mean. I liked the last line, I felt that way with my last relationship....never sure who I was, and then when I found myself, I felt like he had erased me. This was a very thought provoking poem Jaymee....perhaps way above me, but I can try can't I? And I do hope everything is all right with you.

I feel this is a very sad and personal write! I am just dating after being widowed and this piece describes "him" so well.
