here i am the door's open wide
insecurity is haunting for me and i can't hide
why is this feeling eating me up
why can't i ever be enough
i feel so usless and out of place
i wish i could look in the mirror and like this face
but now i'm sitting here dead cold
now insecruity has its hold
i can't break through its iron grip
i'm not strong enough to fight it
every door opens as i feel the draught
as evilness drains me with my own witch craft
i'm so far gone that i'm hopless
and nobody's noticed

You describe the human state very well. Modern society has made us into individuals, we no longer feel the security of the tribe or the village. Or the security other species have of the pack, shoal, herd or flock.
The whole ethos of the poem is chilling and
that last line is terrific.

Terrific sense of structure, it made it all the more enjoyable to read. |
